The Transmitters are a group of seasoned musicians known for covering a wide range of musical territory. Based in St. Louis, their albums and live sets seamlessly move between straightforward pop, torchy ballads, blues infused rock n' soul, country twang and whatever else they can get their musical mitts on. This unique blend of styles is as much a conscious effort as it is a result of each of the individual band members musical strengths and talents. While the results don't necessarily lend themselves to the typical genre labels, one thing is for certain, the Transmitters mixed-bag of tricks make for an interesting ride that is both fun and heartfelt. |

Judging band leader/songwriter Kip Loui by his long tenure in bands like Belle Star and the Rockhouse Ramblers, one might expect him to be solely composing country tunes. These days, he prefers to toss categories aside and play off the assorted talents of his band mates. You only need to hear a sample from one of the Transmitters albums to realize that Loui is an exceptional songsmith no matter what style he's going after. It is obvious that his expressive voice and straightforward guitar work are at the core of the Transmitters sound. |

Like Loui, the rest of the Transmitters line-up are all veterans of the St. Louis music scene – Lead guitarist Mike Young (Gentleman Callers, Shame Club), bassist Dave Stallman (Donnie & the Feelgoods, Royal Motor Lodge, Rockhouse Ramblers); drummer Scott Lampley (Feelgoods, Cedar Creek, Gypsy Eyes Blues Band); and keyboard wizard Jon Parsons (Feelgoods, Nadine, Getaway Car). Combined, their pervious works run the gamut of power pop, country, R n' B, funk, blues and garage rock, just to name a few. This somewhat unlikely amalgamation of players makes this group well tailored to performing Kip's diverse catalog of songs. With Lampley and Stallman solid on the bottom, Young is able to churn out tight, song-tailored solos, while Parsons is free to soar over and under the band with a variety of keyboard sounds. The outcome is a style that is authentic, expressive and original. |
